Nominees for Arab Towns Awards announced

DOHA: A total of 58 Arab Towns and individuals have applied to compete in the twelfth Foundation of Arab Towns Awards that recognise excellence in Environmental Health and Information Technology.
The preparatory committee confirmed the names of the competitors in Doha yesterday and has also begun categorising and screening submissions to ensure their integrity and that they have adhered to all the Awards requirements, according to a release from the Foundation yesterday.
After the screening, the successful nominees will be forwarded to the arbitrary panel and incomplete applications will be rejected, the release said.
The preparatory committee is chaired by Mohammed Ahmed Al Sayyed, who is also the chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Arab Towns Organisation.
According to the foundation, the environmental health award has seen the largest number of entries, with 11 cities and 15 individuals applying for the award.
The information technology award has had 10 cities applying for its Integrated Application Awards, while 12 cities have applied for the Best Electronic Services Award and four individuals have been nominated for the Informatics Expert Award.
Al Sayyed has urged towns in Qatar to participate and compete for the Awards and showcase the achievements of Qatar in this field.
