New Delhi: Four people were killed and one injured yesterday in a fire at a shoe factory here, said a fire service official.
The blaze broke out in west Delhi’s Mangolpuri area around 3.30am. “Short circuit might be the reason behind the incident,” he said. Those killed were identified as Raju, 24, Kuldeep, 22, Chandrashekhar, 20, and Saleem, 15. IANS
1.7 million apply for 1,500 bank clerk jobs
MUMBAI: The State Bank of India has received 1.7 million applications for just 1,500 entry-level clerk jobs — and has promised to examine all of them, a report said yesterday. Bank chairman Pratip Chaudhuri attributed the huge interest to good marketing and attractive employment terms, with the number of applications underlining the appeal of “jobs for life” in the Indian public sector.
