Doha: The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud yesterday chaired the weekly Cabinet session at the Emiri Diwan.
He said the Cabinet took measures to issue a draft law to combat eCrimes after taking note of the Advisory Council’s recommendations.
The draft law stipulates punishments for anyone who unlawfully access through the Internet or any IT means websites or IT systems of state organs, institutions, authorities or entities or their affiliates or establishes or runs a website through the Internet or an IT device to disseminate incorrect news to endanger the safety of the state, or public order or internal or external security.
It also stipulates punishment for anyone who exceeds any principles of social values and publishes news or pictures or audio-video recordings related to the sanctity of the private and family life of individuals, even if they are correct, via libel or slander through the Internet or an IT device.
The meeting approved Emiri draft decisions establishing and regulating College of Jawaan Bin Jassim of Leadership and Joint Staff and establishing and organising Mohamed Bin Abdullah Al Attiyah Air College.
The Cabinet took the appropriate decisions after reviewing the regulatory structure of Qatar Financial Markets Authority; a letter from the Minister of Communications and Information Technology on the report of activities of Civil Aviation National Committee from 1 August 2013 to 1 February this year.
The panel assessed operative criteria and measures to cope with technological advancements and checked opening stages of Hamad International Airport and related arrangements; and a letter from the Minister of Economy and Commerce on the outcome of an extraordinary meeting of the Economic and Social Council in Khartoum in January.
The Cabinet approved draft agreements on cooperation in environment and nature protection with Croatia; and in legal field with Kenya.
