GCC Women's Games: Qatar's Chen wins gold medal in chess

Doha: Qatar's Zhu Chen (pictured) claimed the gold medal of Classic Chess Event at the ongoing 2017 GCC Women's Games in Doha.
This is the second gold medal for Chen at the Games having earlier won the Rapid Chess.
Amna Al Naoman of United Arab Emirates finished second ahead of her compatriot Norah Saleh who had to settle for the third place.
In Rapid Chess, ZhChen defeated Wafia Al Moamary of the United Arab Emirates while Amna Al Noaman of Oman finished third.
Chen also clinched the silver medal of Blitz event following her final match defeat against Wafia Al Moamary of the United Arab Emirates who took the gold medal.
Elsewhere, Qatar basketball team recorded a 58-56 hard-fought victory over Bahrain on Sunday.
The hosts lead the medals tally at the Games having won 52 medals, including 16 gold medals, 19 silver medals and 17 bronze medals.
In the Bowling Competitions at Qatar International Bowling Center. Bahrain's Norah Sulan and Oman's Shakila Al Esairi took the gold and silver medals respectively while the bronze medal went to Oman's Aysha Al Shaybani.
The Qatari squad included Lalwa Abdullah, Al Danah Al Sulaiti and Haya Abdullah.
