DUBAI: An explosion has wounded a policeman in a Shia village near Manama, where clashes frequently erupt between security forces and protesters against the ruling Sunni dynasty, the interior ministry said.
“On-duty policeman injured in homemade bomb blast in Daih village,” the ministry said on Twitter late on Friday, without giving details.
Last month, a blast in Daih killed three policemen in the bloodiest attack on security forces since the start of a Shiite-led uprising in February 2011.
Last year, authorities increased the penalties for those convicted of violence, introducing the death penalty or life sentences in certain cases.
