The Female Unit of Hamad Medical Corporation’s Psychiatry Department gathered together to celebrate Mother’s Day recently. Psychiatry Department’s Female Unit Acting Head Nurse Lalithamma Marottikal said: “We see this day as an opportunity for us to honour our patients, many of whom consider the unit their second home. We are also celebrating the efforts of our nursing staff who have tirelessly supported and provided the best possible care to these patients – one of whom, Nursing Technician Azza El-Sayed, has completed 10 years of service at the unit and has regularly organized fun group activities to bring the patients closer and make them feel loved.”
Psychiatry Department’s Acting Director of Nursing Katja Anneli Smith said: “The key aspect is that we don’t think of our patients just through their illness but through the health that they have. Everybody here is someone’s daughter, someone’s sister, and someone’s mother so it is really about womanhood at the end of the day.”The Peninsula
