Doha: Community College of Qatar (CCQ) has signed an agreement with DePaul University to provide its students with opportunities to complete college degrees at the US university.
It was signed under the patronage of Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Chairman, Al Faisal Without Borders Foundation as part of an agreement between ALF and DePaul University in Chicago to enhance educational opportunities and link Qatari students with top institutes in the world.
The signing took place on April 9 at Marriot Marquis Doha, in the presence of Sheikh Faisal, the Rev. Dennis H Holtschneider, C.M., President, DePaul University, a delegation of senior leaders from the university and Dr Abdulla Hazaimeh, Dean, CCQ.
Sheikh Faisal said: “We are delighted to have this agreement signed with DePaul for the benefit of CCQ students so that they can complete their degrees.
“As a pioneering humanitarian global foundation, AlF promotes sustainable development and improved quality of life for people around the world.
“Our foundation’s vision seeks to support and empower young people by improving their education so they develop their potential. Today’s signing will ensure that these students have the opportunity to have a university degree that will open doors to a successful career and working life.”
Dr Ibrahim said: “CCQ is working very hard towards providing choices for its graduates to continue studies at prestigious institutions of higher education throughout the world.
“We are pleased to sign the memorandum of understanding with DePaul to articulate CCQ courses with DePaul’s so students take advantage of this opportunity to complete studies in one of the most prestigious universities in the US.”
Father Holtschneider said: “DePaul has great respect for CCQ and is delighted and honoured to be able to offer qualified students at CCQ the possibility to complete undergraduate degrees in Chicago. We welcome students from 130 countries each year and look forward to welcoming CCQ students into our community.” The agreement strengthens ALF’s partnership with DePaul with whom ALF developed Sheikh Faisal Centre for Entrepreneurship in the Middle East and a Young Entrepreneur Academy to develop new generations of Qatari and American entrepreneurs.
