Doha: Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday met UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on the sidelines of the 13th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.
They discussed regional and international issues, especially the situation in Palestine, Libya, Syria and Yemen.
They also exchanged views on efforts to improve stability in these countries.
Ban thanked the Emir for Qatar’s role and efforts towards regional stability.
Talks also dealt with cooperation between Qatar and the UN and topics on the agenda of the congress. Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, and the Chairman of the UN Congress were present.
In a separate meeting, the Emir and President of the 69th session of UN General Assembly Sam Kutesa discussed issues of common interest. They also reviewed cooperation between Qatar and the UN as well as topics on the agenda of the congress.
The Emir also met Turkey’s Interior Minister Sebahattin Ozturk.
Talks dealt with cooperation between the two countries and ways of developing it as well as topics on the agenda of the congress.
