DOHA: Qatar’s leading business mind and the chairman of Ezdan Holding Group, Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani Al Thani, attended the first meeting of Advisory Board of the Business, Society and Public Policy Initiative of the Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, in his capacity as the Board member, in Washington. Georgetown University named Sheikh Dr Khalid a member of the Advisory Board in October, 2014. The Advisory Board consists of world leaders in business, government, and various strata of public life. Sheikh Dr Khalid is the first Arab to become a member of the Advisory Board of the institution.
Among the topics discussed in the first board meeting at Georgetown University are initiatives in strengthening the relationship between students and faculty.
The Georgetown Business, Society, and Public Policy Initiative is a rigorous and leading academic catalyst, locally and globally, at the intersection of business, society, and public policy in the 21st century. The initiative provides students, business and political leaders and the public, a greater understanding of the challenges facing corporations. More broadly, it will provide a nonpartisan, global venue to address critical business issues of the day.
The meeting was an opportunity for the board members to converse directly with members of the Georgetown administration, faculty, and students through discussions in which they shared experiences and expertise with future leaders and listened to their ideas and opinions as well as aspirations, in line with the initiative’s objective.
The initiative aims at providing to each graduate of the McDonough School of Business an understanding of the fundamental impact that decision-makers can have on the business dynamics, thus, the profound impact of business on society.
On Qatar’s partnership with the US in the educational field, Sheikh Dr Khalid noted the active presence of Georgetown University’s campus in Qatar. The Qatar campus is providing benefits to students of different nationalities, and in particular to students from the GCC region. Sheikh Dr Khalid commended efforts of those in charge of Business, Society, and Public Policy Initiative in the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University.
