Kabul: According to United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) around 1,694 child casualties were documented in Afghan conflict in 2013. UNAMA following a statement said yesterday at least 545 children were killed and a further 1,149 others were injured last year, Khaama Press reported yesterday. The leading cause of death and injury of children was improvised explosive devices.
Iran, Pakistan
sign nine MoUs
Tehran: Iran and Pakistan signed nine Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). The MoUs were signed between Iranian First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri and Pakistani Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif in Tehran, Iranian news agency (IRNA) reported. The two sides agreed to set up a joint committee on border issues.
Bombs defused in Balochistan
Islamabad: Pakistani security forces defused last night three bombs planted near a checkpost of Frontier Corps (FC) in Balochistan. According to security sources, three bombs planted by unidentified gunmen near a checkpost of Frontier Corps (FC) have been defused, foiling a terror bid in Chaman.
