Vienna: The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud yesterday addressed the opening ceremony of the 23rd Session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in Vienna.
The Deputy Prime Minister in his speech highlighted humanity’s quest for an international system that achieves peace, justice and co-existence as well as promotes social development in a wider atmosphere of freedom and respect for human rights, saying that the establishment of the United Nations in 1945 was a promising step in this direction and the setting up of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime was one of the result of this international organization in the service of humanity.
He deemed the organization of conferences on crime prevention and criminal justice as a good example for international cooperation.
Al Mahmoud also underlined aspects of Qatar’s support to the United Nations, terming this support as a fundamental pillar of Qatar’s policy.
