DOHA: Experts from several Energy Ministries and Oil and Gas giants are expected to discuss exploration and production (E&P) opportunities in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East region during the upcoming ‘Africa and Middle East Oil & Gas Summit’, a press statement said yesterday.
Organised by Oliver Kinross, a UK-based business research firm, the two-day event, to be held in Abu Dhabi from September 30 to October 1, will bring together high-level representatives from Africa and the Middle East’s oil and gas industries, fostering the development of strategic partnerships and allowing delegates to discover the outlook for E&P in the region.
Africa is, at present, one of the most promising regions for oil and gas exploration, with an estimated 8.01 percent of the world’s reserves. As oil and gas discoveries in Africa continue, this figure is only set to rise. The Middle East boasts some of the world’s leading expertise in E&P, with over half the world’s oil and gas reserves. Separated only by the Red Sea, Africa and the Middle East are perfectly located to improve their business and trade links.
Breitling Oil & Gas CEO Chris Faulkner, who will be speaking at the summit, underscored the importance of developing oil and gas industries, and said: “There has never been a greater time to be in the energy business.”
The purpose of the summit is to facilitate discussions between thekey players and enable cooperation between these regions, combining the potential for oil and gas exploration in Africa with the vast experience of the Middle East oil and gas industries.
This event will allow Africa and the Middle East to strengthen industry ties, seek out new business opportunities with regional oil and gas giants and share their expertise, by bringing together energy ministries, IOCs (International Oil Corporations), NOCs (National Oil Corporations) and their solution providers.
Delegates will have the opportunity to attend a conference, panel discussions, a 40-booth interactive exhibition, a networking evening and special focus sessions on East Africa, Southern Africa and West Africa, in addition to hearing keynote speakers address the most topical issues. News of the latest opportunities, as well as case studies of the UAE, Kenya, South Sudan and Madagascar, amongst others, will also be available. A Business Match-Making Service is on offer to aid networking.
Director of the Department of Petroleum Resources, Nigeria, Osten Olorunsola, and CEO of Oman Society of Petroleum Services, Mohamed Al Harthy, as well as Vice President, Commercial, Sacoil Holdings, Willem De Meyer, are just some of the industry experts that will be speaking at the event.
