Social Development Centre campaign seeks funds to help needy families

Doha: The Social Development Center (SDC) has launched the 2014 edition of the ‘Tarahom’ campaign under the name ‘Intu thakhrena’, which translates to ‘You are the real asset,’ this Ramadan.
The campaign seeks to collect funds from philanthropists and good-doers to help underprivileged families in the community. 
It represents one of the most important charitable humanitarian services at SDC which provides assistance to needy families, including widows, divorcees, orphans, patients suffering of kidney failure and outstanding academic students who would benefit from scholarships.
Mariam Al Mannai, Director, Community Services, said, “Ramadan is the month of love and solidarity and compassion and Muslims understand the importance of giving zakat donations during the holy month.
“We launch ‘Tarahom’ at the beginning of Ramadan every year to help guide anyone willing to pay zakat or make donations to ensure they reach the people in need. This is in line with our social responsibility role and part of Qatar National Vision 2030.”
She thanked Al Rayyan Media Marketing, official media partner for the campaign for the second year, and hoped to continue the partnership in the future. She also thanked Al Meera and Lulu Hypermarket for support to the campaign. 
SDC’s humanitarian services has benefited 22,109 people from 1996 to  2013.
Of these, 21,856 medical services for kidney failures patients, 13,844 monetary services and 11,527 non-monetary service, 6,853 educational services and 359 medical services.
Humanitarian services have been organised at SDC to bring about positive change in the Qatari community.
