Doha: The South African Embassy in Qatar and Sasol, the international integrated energy and chemical company, are joining to mark ‘Mandela Day’ with a call to action for support.

‘Mandela Day’ is an annual international day in honour of South African anti-apartheid figure, Nelson Mandela, and aims to inspire individuals to take action to help change the world for the better.

The employees of the South African Embassy in Qatar and Sasol Qatar, as well as individuals in the community who would like to contribute are encouraged to donate new or used clothing, toys, electronic gadgets, or anything (non-perishable items) that someone less fortunate can re-use and in so doing make a small difference in their lives. All proceeds from the sale of donated items will go to Tayf/Qatar Charity.

This donation drive is in the spirit of the inspiring work of Nelson Mandela. While ‘Mandela Day’ is celebrated on July 18, this drive represents the spirit of doing good beyond just one day.

Contributions can be made by dropping off donations in the dedicated Tayf Containers placed at the entrance of the Salam, at The Gate mall from September 12 to 15.

A handover ceremony of the collected donations will take place on September 15.
