DOHA: Qatar National Broadband Network (Qnbn) vowed to turn Qatar into one of the most connected nations in the world as it unveiled a new corporate identity representing the company’s commitment to be an effective catalyst for development by providing the entire nation a state-of-the-art fiber optics network.
“Our role at Qnbn is to make Qatar one of the most connected nations in the world and transform Qatar’s ICT landscape into a world class hub for the latest high speed communications technology,” said Mohammed Ali Al Mannai, Qnbn’s Chief Executive Officer, updating media persons of Qnbn’s accomplishments 18 months since its inception, during the event at Four Seasons Hotel.
Al Mannai said the project costing $0.5bn which had already been rolled out would provide the infrastructure network which would promote equal and open access to operators offering choice for the end-user and efficiently leveraging existing and new infrastructure in Qatar.
“This is a momentous occasion for us all at Qnbn. It is a solid testament to our combined unfaltering efforts to live up to our mission to be a vital part of Qatar’s future development strategy whilst serving the wider digitisation agenda of the country,” he said as he launched the new brand identity.
Qnbn is a central pillar in Qatar ICT Strategy 2015, building a sustainable digital future, improving connectivity throughout the nation, boosting capacity and fostering economic development, as well as enhancing public service delivery to provide benefits for all. Qnbn will work with government and municipalities to connect educational, health, and government bodies, business and the home with the very latest fiber optic technology.
This government-led initiative will help large Real Estate developers in deploying next generation fiber optic communication networks that will add value to their projects and give them a distinct selling point. The company’s network will also create an engine for growth in the industry and for businesses operating in Qatar by supporting business supply chains across several industries and inspiring innovation in products and services.
