DOHA: At least half a dozen-Doha based Indians have featured in the Arabian Business’ “100 most powerful Indians in the Gulf” list 2012.
Yusuf Ali, Chief of the EMKE Group that owns the Lulu chain of hypermarkets, including five in Qatar, has topped the list for the second successive year.
Indian-born academic and Executive Chairman of Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), Dr Tidu Maini, is one of the most prominent persons in the 2012 Power List.
Joy Alukkas and P Mohammed Ali, based in Dubai and Oman respectively, who have operations in Qatar, also found their place in the 2012 list.
Shashank Srivastava, CEO and Board Member of QFC Authority, and Dr R Seetharaman, Group CEO, Doha Bank, are among other prominent Indians in the list. C K Menon, Ranjeev Menon and Hassan Chougle are other Doha-based Indians on the magazine’s power roll.
C K Menon oversees the operations of the Qatari conglomerate, Behzad Group, which operates across a wide range of businesses including transportation and steel manufacturing and has operations all over the Gulf, as well as in Europe, South America and
the US.
