QU official takes part in Equinox Summit

DOHA: A leading programme at the Qatar University has been represented at an international science event recently.  

Head of Qatar University’s Al Bairaq World programme Dr Noora Al Thani participated in the Equinox Summit Learning 2030 on the invitation of the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, University of Waterloo that hosts the Waterloo Global Science Initiative (WGSI). Dr Al Thani joined educators and innovators in education-related fields and next-generation leaders from around the world who gathered  at the prestigious event  “to explore best practices and promising initiatives in education aimed at empowering high school students in their creativity and potential; and  to contribute to an Equinox Blueprint that provides clear recommendations on building a school for the 21st century that fosters skills in critical thinking, problem solving, and innovation”.

Presenting on “Education outside the classroom in Qatar” in one of the summit sessions, Dr Al Thani gave details of the high school science initiative as a model for an innovative educational outreach.  She also presented a film about Al Bairaq.
