Doha: The Qatar national table tennis team has secured its place in the 2026 World Team Championship in London following a decisive 3-1 victory over Sri Lanka at the Asian Team Championship in Bhubaneswar, India.
Despite an early setback when Mohamed Abdulwahab lost the opening match 2-3, the team rallied impressively. Abdullah Abdulwahab leveled the score with a 3-1 win, and Rawad Al Nasser gave Qatar the lead with another 3-1 victory. Mohamed Abdulwahab then sealed the qualification in a dominant performance, winning his final match 3-0.
Having finished second in their group, the team will now face Uzbekistan as they compete in the 12th-15th place play-offs today.
