On October 28, 2014, the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received Qatari students on scholarships to the United Kingdom, at the Dorchester Hotel in London.
This meeting made us citizens, students, parents, seniors and juniors, very happy, for its morale-boosting and social implications, and long term effects on different Qatari social segments.
This may influence patriotism, breaking all social barriers between the leadership and ordinary citizens, who could come closer to the young leader who is following the National Vision 2030 while extending his hand to different segments of the society.
The Emir took it upon himself to pay extra attention to the youth in the educational, sport and cultural spheres during the last ten years in light of the economic transition that Qatar is seeing.
The state is fully convinced that no nation can develop and prosper without youth in the leading role. The youth may lead Qatar through a series of challenges pertaining to the consolidation of the economic structure.
Youth need someone to guide them through education, training, building capacities and learning about cultures and shared experiences. All this has to be put in the right place to serve this nation and repay the favour for the things they received as nationals, including economic benefits, security and stability, which are not available in many other countries. Thanks to the leadership that helped make us, in a very short time, one of the world’s top income countries.
There is no need to say there are still leaders who quickly respond to their nation’s needs and are ready to remove all hurdles to achieve development goals. In addition, perhaps these effective meetings and forums between leaders and citizens through field visits shall refresh the social and national loyalty spirit and increase the emotional intimacy, the matter which obliges us to carry national and societal responsibilities towards our state and leaders.
Probably the message through this meeting is being directed to officials in various sectors in the first place, which is to take the leadership as a model in their relation with the people, policy making and when conducting diplomatic activities in countries with their citizens. What the Emir has done is an example others can learn from. It breaks all barriers between leaders and ordinary citizens. The other message that we can learn from this is directed to the youth, who received financial, psychological and social support from the state in fields like education, sports and health care.
The aim is to create a conscious generation that is aware of all kinds of challenges and national vision, which seeks their support, otherwise dependent on foreign experts and workforces in different sectors.
The state expects to harvest and gain the rewards of its investment in youth at a time the entire Arab region is suffering from different political, educational and economic tensions and upheavals.
The meeting with the Emir made the youth realise their national and social responsibilities. It made them aware of what the state expects from them in the near future.
Finally, words can’t describe Sheikh Tamim’s efforts for the wellbeing of his citizens. The subject is not considered new for a leader who was raised in a leadership environment founded by the Father Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who challenged the world and made a legend of Qatar in terms of economic development in different spheres. May Allah help you and guide our leadership.
