Berlin: Ecuador's midfielder Carlos Gruezo, who has been preparing for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, has suffered a thigh injury, German club Augsburg reported on Sunday.
Gruezo was unable to complete the match that his team lost to Bochum with a clear goal, leaving half an hour after the match started.
The 27-year-old hopes that his name will be included in the list of Ecuador's national team that will participate in the World Cup, which will be announced on Monday.
Ecuador will open its World Cup matches against Qatar next Sunday in Group A, which includes Senegal and the Netherlands.
