Doha: Qatar’s Diplomatic Institute yesterday held its 10th scientific seminar under the theme “China’s New Policy,” where China’s Ambassador to Qatar Gao Yuchen spoke about his country’s new policies.

At the outset of his speech, Gao spoke about the excellent relations between China and Qatar on all levels, noting that Qatar pays special attention to Chinese affairs, especially in media. He mentioned Aljazeera’s coverage of the Chinese Communist Party’s 18th National Congress in November, and the keenness of senior Qatari officials on China’s comprehensive development and opening-up policy.

The Chinese ambassador touched on Qatar’s significant position for Chinese officials, media and other sectors, explaining that everyone sees it as a great nation on the diplomatic, media, natural resources and economic development fronts, in spite of its tiny size and small population, which shows the wisdom of its leadership.

Gao said China’s policy derive from the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and building a harmonious world of lasting peace and common prosperity, adding that they are the principles included in President Hu Jintao’s report to the national congress. He stressed that this policy has proven to be right and suitable for China’s conditions and modern development trends, and reflects the stability and continuity in the country’s foreign policy. QNA
