Youth Forum, a socio-cultural organisation of young Indian expatriates, organised traffic awareness programmes under the patronage of the Traffic Department of the Ministry of Interior as part of the organisation’s ongoing 45-day Social Service Campaign. Hundreds of Youth Forum volunteers visited labour camps in the Industrial Area to distribute leaflets containing traffic awareness and road safety guidelines. About 20,000 leaflets published by the Traffic Department in English, Hindi, Urdu, Nepalese, Sinhala and Malayalam were distributed among the labourers, who were told of the importance of obeying traffic rules.
A series of traffic and road safety awareness classes in association with various companies are also scheduled as part of the campaign. One of them has started in the Family Food Centre Auditorium in the Industrial Area, said Majeed Ali, convenor of the event. Firos Kothamangalam, acting president of Youth Forum Qatar, inaugurated the programme, and Faisal Hudavi, representative of the Traffic Department, offered his greetings at the inaugural function held at the Youth Forum office in Hilal. The Peninsula
