​South Korean minister to hold talks in US

Seoul:  South Korea’s deputy foreign minister will visit Washington for an annual dialogue that is expected to focus on North Korea, according to South Korea’s News.
The four-day trip to Washington by Vice Foreign Minister Kim Kyou-hyun is also expected to include discussions on China’s new air defence zone over the East China Sea that has caused tension with neighbouring countries, including South Korea and Japan.             
Hanoi shipping officials on trial 
HANOI:  Former top executives at Vietnam’s scandal-hit national shipping company Vinalines, whose huge debts shook investor confidence in the communist nation, went on trial yesterday for embezzlement and defying state regulations.
The state-owned company nearly collapsed under some $3bn of debt, according to official media, one of several high profile scandals among huge national firms, which are a key pillar of the country’s economy.
Japanese steals to feed 120 cats
TOKYO:  A Japanese man went on a year-long burglary spree, making off with a haul worth $185,000 to feed 120 cats a gourmet diet.
Mamoru Demizu, 48, is suspected of breaking into houses to steal cash and jewels on 32 separate occasions.
He told police that he stole things to come up with the money to feed scores of his feline friends, spending up to 25,000 yen ($250) a day, an officer said. Agencies
