DOHA: MIA Park hosted its first Qatar Museums (QM) Culture Pass members’ party where over 200 enjoyed events and displays celebrating Qatari culture.
The Culture Pass free membership programme, launched earlier this year in partnership with Vodafone Qatar, is open to everyone and offers the chance to experience benefits linked to cultural activities in Qatar.
In less than one year, it has welcomed 9,000 new members.
During the evening, members were briefed on QM’s upcoming exhibitions and treated to live Arabic music, food, a gift bag and henna designs.
Phil Lawrie, Chief Commercial Officer, QM, said “To our members, the value of Culture Pass is about getting something extra – discounts at our cafés, restaurants and shops or invites to special events and activities like our monthly workshops and lectures or members-only tours of our exhibitions. This party-in-the-park is another way to provide something extra for members.”
Arif Saeed, Marketing and Digital Expert in Public Art, QM, provided an insight into the ways in which QM is nurturing emerging talent. He said the former Civil Defence building, known as Doha’s Fire Station, has been transformed into a hub for creative exchange.
The nine-month programme will support local artists by providing 20 studios and gallery space to collaborate with other artists, academia and the community to hone and develop their techniques.
Culture Pass members have access to VIP exhibition openings; workshops that develop creative skills and explore exhibition themes; tours of museums and galleries; additional discounts and benefits, including 15 percent off at QM food and beverage outlets, discounts at QM gift shops and 10 percent discount on venue hire at premium spaces.
As part of the programme, QM and Vodafone have opened the first world-class call centre dedicated to culture.
