Doha: The Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage is preparing to celebrate the Sports Day which falls on Tuesday of the second week of February each year.
The Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage H E Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari issued a decision to set up a committee to oversee preparations and celebration.
It will be chaired by the Director of Youth Centres Department, Abdulrazaq bin Abdullah Al Kuwari.
He said in a statement yesterday that the committee had discussed programmes and budget for the occasion.
It has also prepared a comprehensive plan to mark the day, he added.
Prospective volunteers can apply now
DOHA: Those who wish to be volunteers for the upcoming National Sport Day, which falls on February 12, may now apply through the website www.sportday.qa, the Organising Committee has announced.
The volunteer application form offers a wide variety of skills and expertise required to provide everyone with a chance to participate — from marketing and survey support to special events, media operations and other National Sport Day-related activities.
The National Sport Day is an initiative adopted by the Heir Apparent H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Across the country, ministries, government departments, public and private sector organisations and sport clubs will be organising sporting activities on the day.
They will aim at creating awareness about sport and its health benefits.
