DOHA: Oriental Pearl restaurant on Doha Corniche is promising to be child-friendly. It is planning to go beyond high chairs for children and give them a safe and spacious play area. The restaurant has set up an outdoor play area for youngsters.
The restaurant, which had a soft opening recently, is giving final touches to a large children’s playground set up outside the building, which is an uncommon scene with restaurants in Doha.
“We know the needs of people in Doha, this kind of a play area would be ideal for families coming with children to dine,” said Francois Habib, Operations Director at Oriental Pearl.
The 200sqm play area has various equipment including an elephant springer, vertical climber and slides. The facility which is scheduled for a grand opening on Thursday, is fixing specially-designed tiles in the play area to ensure the safety of children.
“The play area meets all requirements set by laws in Qatar. We have experts from Italy and other countries to assure safety of the place,” said Habib.
“We have imported special type of tiles which would give a feel of grass and which will be safe for children,” he added.
The restaurant is also likely to appoint staff to supervise children while they play and introduce more activities to entertain them.
“There will be cartoon characters to make the place more lively and special arrangements would be made for functions like birthdays,” he said.
Oriental Pearl with different types of dining areas offers a fusion of Syrian, Lebanese and Italian cuisine, a coffee shop and many other facilities. The facility could host nearly 1,000 guests at the same time. “We have different menus and prices for guests to choose from. They can select any price range starting form QR60,” said Habib, adding that their aim was to achieve seven-star rating for the restaurant.
Oriental Pearl also has a special lounge for 40 VIP and VVIP guests with facilities, including a saloon.
