Doha: Qtel is encouraging organisations to encourage athletics and raise money for charity by sending teams of runners to the first Qtel Marathon on January 26.
Teams from businesses, universities and athletic clubs are encouraged to wear their own branded running outfits to the races, which start at 7am.
Already, some of Qatar’s leading businesses have signed up to take part, and will be able to proudly fly the flag for their organisations in one of the most exciting athletic events of the year.
Adults can participate in a half-marathon (21.1km) or a 10km run, and young people under 18 years can sign up for the 1km youth run.
The competition is open to people of all levels of experience and fitness levels, with the emphasis placed on the healthy lifestyle benefits for all.
The entry fees ofQR50 per participant will be donated to charities in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia.
