Al Sada to open QP’s second operational safety challenges forum

DOHA: The second Operational Safety Challenges Forum for the oil and gas industry opens today and runs until Thursday .
The Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman of Qatar Petroleum (QP) H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada will deliver the opening address. First held in last January, the second forum will feature plenary sessions and technical presentations on promoting a safety culture, emergency response and effective crisis management.
The event is being held under Dr Al Sada’s patronage and organised by the Best Practice Technical Committee of QP’s Dukhan operations.
Delegates from QP, RasGas, Qatargas, Qatar Petrochemical Company, Qatar Fertilizer Company, Qatar Chemical Company Limited, Qatar Fuel Additives Company, Shell, ExxonMobil, Total, Maersk Oil, Oryx GTL, Occidental Petroleum, American Society of Safety Engineers and Honeywell will attend the forum.
“We carry out these activities without compromising health and safety of the industry’s workers, the environment and society at large. 
“We believe that operational excellence and a safety culture are crucial for sustainable growth of any industry, and these have been embedded in Qatar National Vision 2030 launched and guided by the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani,” said Dr Al Sada.
Ahmad Saif Al Sulaiti, Operations Manager, Dukhan Fields and Chairman of the Organising Committee, said: “QP and its Operations Directorate always give priority to safety of our employees, who are our most valuable assets. 
“By encouraging knowledge sharing among all operating companies in the country, we are confident of further raising the standard of safety while promoting operational excellence in the industry.” 
The Peninsula
