DOHA: Experts discussed humanitarian statutory amendments on the second day of the Mena Red Cross and Red Crescent Consultative Meeting hosted by Qatar Red Crescent (QRC).
Moderated by Saleh bin Ali Al Mohannadi, QRC Secretary-General, the day’s events covered amendments proposed to the International RCRC Movement charter known as the Seville Agreement.
The meeting also held preliminary deliberations on RCRC coordination and guidelines for using Red Cross and Red Crescent emblems in the media.
IFRC (the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent) Secretary-General, Elhadj As Sy, spoke about the importance of the meeting as an opportunity to find out what is done by the national societies in such a region that has long suffered from crises but is known for extraordinary hospitality and generosity, even to strangers.
