Doha: A late goal by Jorge Sebastian Saez powered Al Wakrah to a 3-2 win against Al Sailiya in their Qatar Stars League football match played at Al Ahli Stadium yesterday while Umm Salal produced two second-half goals to beat bottom-placed Mesaimeer at Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium to carry away the honours of the day.

Saez, who had earlier opened the scoring for his team in the round 18 Qatar Stars League (QSL) clash, sealed the deal with his second goal in the 86th minute of the game to give his team the second win in the last three QSL matches they played.
After Saez’s first goal in the 10th minute at Al Ahli Stadium, Al Wakrah went 2-0 up in the 35th minute when Mahir Yusuf Bakir found the back of the Al Sailiya net.
Despite trailing 2-0, Al Sailiya hit back through Carlos Alberto who managed a quick double.
Alberto scored the first goal in the 38th minute but barely a minute after the restart, he scored his second goal in the 39th minute to help Al Sailiya back in the game.
Saez’s late strike disappointed Al Sailiya who were looking to post their third successive win.
Al Sailiya are now placed seventh in the QSL points race with a tally of 25 points from 18 rounds. Al Wakrah, placed eighth, have 23 points in their account.
At Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium last evening, Mesaimeer held off a strong Umm Salal side for most part of second half when the winners relied on two headers from Abdulqadir Ilyas Adam to score their win. Their first goal came in the 72nd minute while the second one was headed home in the 83rd minute with Mesaimeer goalkeeper Basel Samih Zaidan failing in his duty  on both occasions, allowing the ball through his hands as Adam produced feeble headers from close range.
Umm Salal are now in sixth spot with a tally of 27 points, whereas, Mesaimeer have lost seven successive games in a row. Mesaimeer have only 4 points from 18 matches.
J Ahnaash, Umm Salal’s football chief, said: “We are delighted to pick up three points. I am sure we can build on this fine fight on the pitch. We need to keep working hard in the remaining matches.”
Yesterday’s win was Umm Salal’s sixth of the season. Today, El Jaish will take on Al Gharafa at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium while hosts Qatar SC face Al Sadd at Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium.
