BPS holds several events to mark sport day

DOHA:  The Qatar National Sport Day was celebrated at Birla Public School (BPS) with heart thumping enthusiasm yesterday. 

The day began with a remarkable assembly conducted by the P E Department. 

The Vice-Chairman, Gope Shahani, presided as the Chief Guest and Chindu Rappai, Sub- Committee Member, was the special guest. 

Vice-Principal George Edison led the gathering in a distinctive Athlete’s prayer. 

Lukose K Chacko, Chairman, school management sent his greetings for the Qatar National Sports Day.

The Flag of Qatar State was hoisted by the Chief Guest, accompanied by the school authorities. 

This was followed by a rendition of the Qatar National Anthem.  

A logo for the day, “Sports for Life”, was unveiled by the Chief Guest and Chindhu Anthony Rappai, management member.

The School Principal, AP Sharma,  addressed the assembly inspiring all to take sports as an integral part of life so that the child in all lives forever. 

All the teaching and non-teaching staff led the guests in a, ‘Healthy Walk’ circumnavigating the school, which was followed by an energising dance performance by the ladies support staff dressed in cheerleading costumes.

Sports activities began with fun games for all “Bombing the City” and “Musical Chair” for ladies and “Bursting the Balloon” for men as well as women were conducted. 

Tug of war, kangaroo race, arm wrestling and treasure hunt were the other attractions.

The all the staff formed themselves into two teams and took part in friendly games like football and volleyball for men and basketball for women. 

The programme recorded complete attendance and was a huge success in encouraging lively and healthy spirit among all. 

Thomas Bennet, Head of Physical Education department,  and his entire team coordinated the events.

Winners received prizes from the school management.
