TOKYO: At least two people died and five others were injured when a man believed to be a Chinese exchange student went on a stabbing rampage in Japan, reports said Thursday.

Broadcaster NHK said a foreign man was arrested after attacking seven people with a knife at a fish processing plant in Etajima, near the western city of Hiroshima.

The Jiji Press news agency said the assailant was a Chinese exchange student, adding he had been arrested on suspicion of murder and other charges.

Police in Hiroshima and Etajima said they could not immediately confirm the reports. (AFP)
