Doha: The Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Association Qatar (AMUAAQ), an associate organisation of Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) under the aegis of the Indian Embassy organised the traditional community Iftar recently at Museum of Islamic Park.

The Iftar was attended by over 350 people including families and friends. This is third time AMUAAQ organised its community Iftar in an open area which is similar to their alma mater tradition. The event was presided over by AMUAAQ President, Dr. Nadeem Zafar Jilani. 

Indian Ambassador to Qatar, H E Dr. Deepak Mittal was the chief guest while ICBF President, Ziad Usman; Ahmed Kazi from CCT; and QIA President and Care and Cure Group Chariman, Abdul Rahman EP attended the programme as guests of honour. Special guests were ICBF Vice-President, Vinod Nair; ICBF GS, Sabith Saheer; KSQ President, Mahesh Gowda; ICC Vice-President, Subramanya Hebbagelu; TM District Administrator, Sabeena M K; TM Area Director, Deepak Talreja; Afreen, Satyendra Pathak, Mumtaz Hussain and AMU Doctors.

AMUAAQ is a non-profit and socio-cultural organisation committed to promote a sense of brotherhood and foster spirit of community wellness. The forum’s objective is to serve the educational, social, literary, sports and cultural needs of the community.

The community Iftar brings together the alumni students, families, friends and guests for prayers, to listen to a lecture on Ramadan and Zakat, catered Iftar meal and shared home-made tea and drinks during the holy month. 

AMUAAQ  said the event was a grand success after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Ashna said the association’s Iftar get together made them feel so much better and is rejuvenating in this blessed month of Ramadan.

Ghazala Yasmeen and Dr. Shima Sadaf conducted the Ramadan Quiz supported by other ladies. Children participated in Ramadan Quiz in large numbers and winners were given prizes and certificates while all under six participants were given prizes for reciting a surah.

Maulana Abdul Rab spoke about the importance of the holy month of Ramadan and Zakat. 

He mentioned that Ramadan is a wonderful opportunity to repent for sins and wrongdoings. 

“We should take the momentum forward and work for the purity of soul and enhancement of Taqwa,” he said. Prayer and dua was jointly performed on the ground after Iftar (fatoor). Dinner and tea were served after maghrib prayer.

AMUAAQ President, Dr Nadeem Zafar Jilani said a good number of people participated in the event where all had “a great time.”  The programme was concluded through healthy discussions on various important knowledgeable topics.
