Savitribai Phule Pune University, based in Pune, Maharashtra, is etched in history as a world-ranking institution of higher learning in India and across the world. It has a campus in Qatar by the name MIE SPPU Institute of Higher Education. The alumni of the university living and working in Qatar got together at the Qatar Campus on Wednesday to form the Doha Chapter of the Alumni Association.
High-ranking individuals such as former president of India Pratibha Patil, high-ranking government officials, business leaders, and celebrities, Pune University Alumnus Body in India is a very vibrant body and carries considerable influence over the functioning of the university.
Hasan Chougule, President of the MIE SPPU Institute of Higher Learning, appealed to the alumni living in Qatar to equally advise and participate in the conduct of the college affairs in Qatar and in promoting higher education in Qatar. The meeting ended with a sumptuous Iftar and tour of the campus for the alumni arranged by MIE SPPU Institute of Higher Education located in Ayn Khalid, The Commercial Avenue, Doha Qatar. Prof Bimalendu Nath, Director of the Institute, promised to extend the title of the University from being the Oxford of the East to Oxford of the Gulf with the support and participation of the alumni based in Qatar.
