New Delhi/Patna/Hyderabad: The proposal for a Federal Front got a boost yesterday with Telugu Desam expressing readiness to join it while Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said his JD-U was in talks with his West Bengal and Odisha counterparts, Mamata Banerjee and Naveen Patnaik, on the issue.

In Hyderabad, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Chandrababu Naidu told reporters that he was in touch with leaders of various regional parties, including Banerjee, over the formation of the proposed front, and the TDP was always ready to work with non-United Progressive Alliance and non-National Democratic Alliance parties.

In Patna, Nitish Kumar said his party was in touch with Banerjee and Patnaik. “Yes, we discussed the issue. But the matter is still in early stages, and it is not proper to make guesses about the new formation now,” he told reporters.
