Forty-0ne paintings depicting Qatari heritage are on show at a solo exhibition featuring Qatari artist Maryam Al Moussa which recently opened in Katara Building 13.
The exhibition organised by Qatar Fine Arts Society was launched by Salman Al Nuaimi, director of coordination and follow-up unit at Katara and Yusuf Al Sada, chairman of Qatar Fine Arts Society in the presence of a number of Qatari artists including Issa Al Mulla, Hassan Al Mullah, Moda Al Hajri and Ameera Al Ajji.
The paintings, Maryam said, reflect Qatari heritage in the form of paintings, architecture and manuscripts which echo from her memory and etched in the hearts of her compatriots.
She attempts to document her heritage using her fine art skills and her own unique style using printing techniques and acrylic colours. She makes decorative use of traditional elements such as Sadu, Arabic calligraphy and camel identification marks in her artworks inspired by the natural Qatari landscape. Al Sada lauded Maryam who like her peers managed to break traditional barriers, creating her own style and answering many questions through her paintings.
Al Moussa obtained Bachelor in Education and Art from Qatar University and is a board member of Qatar Fine Arts Society. She organises training courses and workshops for Fine Art teachers. She has participated in many local and international fine art expos and cultural events.
