Representatives of QFC consultancy firm Guardian Wealth Management, organisers of the inaugural Vodafone Keys and Gray Charity Classic golf tournament, held in association with Old Mutual and Etihad Airways, presented a cheque for QR90,000 to the Qatar Diabetes Association.
The event, supported by Grand Hyatt and hosted by Doha Golf Club in March this year, saw an array of stars from football’s yesteryear, including Glenn Hoddle, Ruud Gullit and Dwight Yorke, battle it out in windy conditions for the coveted trophy. Graeme Souness was the ultimate winner.
David Russell, CEO of Guardian Wealth Management, said: “Andy and Richard used to host a similar charity tournament every year in the UK and we decided that we wanted to help them bring it to Doha. We are delighted at being able to donate such a significant amount to a very worthwhile charity here in town and look forward to raising even more when the event returns next year.”
Suhair M Ahmed from the Qatar Diabetes Association said: “On behalf of QDA management, we would like to extend our sincere thanks  for your donation which will allow us to provide valuable services to people living with diabetes and their families, and also those who are at risk of developing it in Qatar.”
