Emir receives calls from Ban, Hollande

Doha: The Emir  H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday received a telephone call from United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
Talks dealt with latest developments in Palestinian territories in light of Israel’s attack on Gaza and efforts to stop attacks and protect Palestinian civilians. 
The Emir renewed his call on the international community to assume its responsibility to stop Israel’s military policy of collective punishment against the people of Gaza.
The Emir also received a telephone call from French President Francois Hollande. 
Discussions covered bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them, as well as latest developments in the Gaza Strip and efforts being made at the international level for an immediate ceasefire.
Ministry marks Garangao

Doha: Under the auspices of the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage H E Dr Hamad Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, the ministry’s Heritage Department hosted Garangao Night at Heritage village. 
A large number of children and their families took part in activities. Children also received gifts.
The Director of Heritage Department, Hamad Hamdan Al Mohannadi, said a main purpose of the event was to educate children on Qatari traditions and heritage.
He highlighted the role of families in passing heritage to younger generations and the importance of incorporating it in the educational process. QNA
