MoI hosts Garangao events across Qatar

Doha: The Ministry of Interior joined Qatari children to celebrate Garangao night.
The General Directorate of Traffic, South Security Department, Airport Security Department and Airport Passports Department organised cultural awareness events in different localities. 
Hundreds of children and their families participated in cultural, traditional and entertainment programmes and received Garangao gift bags containing toys, sweets and nuts.
The General Directorate of Traffic deployed patrols in streets and internal roads to prevent accidents and protect children who visited neighbourhoods to collect gifts. No mishaps were reported during celebrations this year. 
It organised events on Thursday night at the department’s theatre hall, where children and their parents learnt traffic rules through entertainment activities.
Ft. Lt. Riyadh Ahmad,  Traffic Awareness Officer, Traffic Awareness and Media Department, said the department was keen to organise events to make children aware of traffic rules and how to use roads. 
The Media and Awareness Department organised ‘Traffic Village Events’ at Villaggio, attended by a large number of people, including children.
The events included competition games, cultural contests and paintings on traffic awareness. Participants received gifts.
The Community Policing Section at the South Security Department marked Garangao in association with Wakra Hospital, at the hospital.
Competitions were conducted on biography of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), general knowledge and cultural aspects and gifts and sweets were distributed. 
Police officers also visited child patients at the hospital and presented them with sweets and gifts. 
Lt. Col. Arif Muhammad Al Abdullah, Head, External Wings Section, Community Policing Department, said community police cooperated with various agencies to enhance its access and participate in traditional and cultural events across the country.
He said children are basic elements of society and need special care and affection and so officers visited child patients at the hospital.
The Airport Security Department and the Airport Passports Department also participated in Garangao celebrations in association with Hamad International Airport and Qatar Airways at the Ramadan Tent in front of the airport.
Hundreds of children enjoyed events and received gifts. 
Brig. Essa Arrar Al Romaihi, Director, Airport Security Department, said Garangao celebrations by the department aimed to keep up Qatari heritage and traditions and expand cooperation between officers of the departments. 
Lt. Col. Muhammad Al Mazroui, Director, Airport Passport Department, expressed pleasure to organise the event in collaboration with the ministry, the  airport and QA that made children and their relatives proud of their heritage and culture.
