At least 41 people were killed and 14 injured when a fire broke out at a church in greater Cairo, Egypt’s Al-Ahram reported.
Fire-fighters and ambulances descended on Abo Sefein church in the Imbaba district of Giza on Sunday amid a blaze the interior ministry said was caused by an electrical fault with an air-conditioning unit.

The state-run Ahram news website cited a statement from the Coptic Orthodox Church, which attributed the casualty figure to unidentified people at the health ministry.

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi spoke to Pope Tawadros II, the head of the Coptic church, and extended his condolences, according to a statement from Sisi’s office.
