Damascus: Four people were killed in unexplained explosions on the outskirts of Idlib city in northwestern Syria.

The Syrian Ministry of Health stated in a press release that four people were killed and five others injured in an initial toll from the explosion that occurred near Idlib. This followed a report by state television announcing the death of two individuals in explosions whose nature is still being verified.

The Syrian Civil Defense reported that its teams recovered the body of a child among the victims, while residents of Idlib said they heard loud explosions on the western outskirts of the city.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights noted that successive violent explosions occurred in conjunction with the flight of drones overhead, causing thick plumes of smoke to rise.

The region frequently witnesses mysterious explosions, similar to the series of blasts that occurred on July 24 inside a weapons depot in the town of Maarrat Misrin in Idlib countryside, which killed at least 12 people and injured around 120 others.
