Khartoum: Chairman of Sudan's Transitional Sovereign Council General Abdel Fattah Al Burhan affirmed that there is no room for a truce or reconciliation with the rebels.

This came in a speech by Al Burhan marking the 71st anniversary of the founding of the Sudanese Armed Forces, in which he stated that Sudan will press forward with the battle for dignity, defeating the rebellion without compromise or reconciliation, regardless of the cost.

He added that the government will not betray the blood of the people, sons, and brothers who have fallen in defense of Sudan.

The armed conflict in Sudan has been ongoing since April 2023 between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). According to local and international reports, the conflict has resulted in the deaths of over 20,000 people and the displacement of around 14 million others.

The United Nations has reiterated the importance of ensuring safe and unimpeded humanitarian access throughout Sudan and called on the international community to intensify its support for the country’s most vulnerable populations.
