Qatar takes part in IMF, WB meetings

Washington: Qatar participated in the closing session of the International Monitory Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB) meetings yesterday in Washington. Representatives of more than 188 member states in both agencies.

Qatar’s delegation was headed by the Minister of Finance H E Ali Shereif Al Emadi and included the Governor of Qatar Central Bank Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud Al Thani.

The meetings, which were attended by finance and development ministers, central bank governors, senior private sector officials and academics, discussed issues such as global economic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development and aid effectiveness.

On the sidelines of the four-day gathering, the Minister met several ministers and discussed cooperation between Qatar and their countries.

Al Emadi also attended meetings in Washington on the sidelines of the IMF and WB meetings, including a meeting for finance ministers and Arab central bank governors and another for Deauville Partnership.
