Doha: Maersk Oil and Qatar Petroleum (QP) are organising the second edition of the Maersk Oil & QP (MOQP) Challenge in Zekreet on Saturday and Sunday with a total of 29 teams set to take part in the event.

The MOQP Challenge is Qatar’s first corporate adventure race that promotes team building and networking in a physically, mentally and emotionally challenging setting while also  raising $100,000 for the Qatar Diabetes Association, which is a member of the Action on Diabetes partnership.

The 29 teams will face a series of demanding tasks including orienteering by GPS, completing construction projects, navigating in the desert at night, and solving challenging team problems in four stages on both land and sea. The activities are all themed around the prevention of diabetes.  To win the event, teams will need to combine mental agility with strong physical performance, great teamwork and a robust strategy.

Lewis Affleck, Managing Director of Maersk Oil Qatar, said: “We are delighted to host the MOQP Challenge again this year with our friends at QP, as we pursue our common goal in the fight against diabetes and our vision for a healthy nation. At Maersk Oil, our societal commitment involves making a long-term contribution to Qatar through quality partnership programmes that make a real and lasting impact on the lives of tens of thousands of Qataris. The Action on Diabetes programme is a great example of this, as it touches the lives of over 250,000 people a year.”
