DOHA: The seventh Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)-GCC Conference and Exhibition is all set to open on Sunday at the Qatar National Convention Centre.
Under the patronage of the Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, the four-day IEEE-GCC conference and expo will focus on the theme “Towards Improving Quality of Life” which reflects the emerging technology and rapid changes that are occurring in the Gulf Region and around the world.
The theme underlines the role and responsibilities of the engineers in developing technology to improve the reliability and sustainability of the industrial operation as well as to preserve natural resource by eliminating environmental residuals in the GCC region.
Highlighting the event are keynotes on the topics “Visual Language Processing of Ancient Manuscripts: Converting Collections to Crystal Globes of the Past”, “How Power Electronics contribute to the Actual Energy Arena” and “Spectrum Scarcity, Cognitive Radio, and Free Space Optical Communications.”
In addition, there would also be tutorials and workshops to be conducted by invited experts in interdisciplinary fields of engineering. New at the conference and expo is a special focus on the emerging and vital role women play in the field of engineering.
The event is being organised by the IEEE Gulf section which includes Qatar, UAE, KSA, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman in collaboration with Qatar Society of Engineers (QSE).
The event also features an industrial exhibition in which sponsors will have the opportunity to display their products and services throughout the conference.
