Doha: Former cricket player of South Africa Daryll John Cullinan (pictured)visited Birla Public School recently. The Chief Guest was accompanied by Managing Director MSDCA, Doha Mihir Diwakar and Head cricket Operation (ISC) Sohail Rouf.
Director Lukose K Chacko and Academic Director-Principal Harish Sanduja welcomed Daryll John Cullinan in reception area and all guests were escorted by the Department of Physical Education to the auditorium.
Sports Captain Master Aaron Ansel welcomed the gathering. Vice-Principal Co-Scholastics Rajesh Pillai and Vice-Principal Scholastics Edna Fernandez were also present. A token of appreciation, a memento, was presented to the Chief Guest by Director Lukose K Chacko. Budding cricket enthusiasts of the school and grade XI students attended the session along with the staff members.
During the interactive session Daryll John Cullinan motivated the students and shared his past experience, while advising the young cricket buffs on how to plan their career in this field. Vote of thanks was delivered by the girl Sports Captain Shrijeeta Ghosh.
Following the session in the auditorium, Cullinan visited the cricket pitch and exhibited some fundamental skills of cricket specifically covering the three parts-fielding, bating and bowling.
He corrected the positioning of the players. Cullinan put more stress on the importance of physical fitness and basics of cricket like stances- standing positions, grip of bat, hand positions and elbow positions while holding the bat and ball.
