PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province government is considering its options on appearing before the Supreme Court in a matter that concerns the interest of 2.6 million electricity consumers of the province, according to the relevant officials.
The legal battle between 72 industrialists from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Peshawar Electric Supply Company about the recovery of fuel adjustment charge (FAC) and fuel price adjustment (FPA) has reached the Supreme Court after being pursued at the Peshawar High Court for around two years.
The high court has been holding hearings in the 72 identical writ petitions since early last year and stopped Pesco from collecting FAC and FPA till further orders.
The stay order has been in place since February 28, 2012.
Wazir said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, a party to the case in the Peshawar High Court, did not appear before the Supreme Court.
