Qatar wants to enhance ties with US, says ambassador

Al Kuwari stressed yesterday that Qatar was looking to enhance its partnership with the United States.
The envoy, who was giving a speech at The Panhandle Tiger Bay Club, discussed the role of Qatar in contributing to the international community in establishing peace, development and security in the Arab region.
Al Kuwari added that Qatar hasn’t just become a hub for trade and business, but also for dialogue.
He added that Aljazeera network has become the voice of the voiceless, enhancing dialogue over important matters.
He added that Aljazeera’s coverage of the 2011 revolts played a role in ending a number of autocratic regimes.
The ambassador also highlighted Qatar’s role in the humanitarian field. He highlighted the state’s establishment of Qatar Haiti fund and the Qatar Katrina Fund which contributed $120m in aid to those affected by the two natural disasters.
Al Kuwari concluded by confirming that Qatar and the US have always maintained a strong partnership in the field of sustainable development.
