Omani Shura Council Chairman: Oman has close relations with Qatar

DOHA: Chairman of the Omani Advisory (Shura) Council Sheikh Khalid Bin Hilal Al Ma'awali has praised the brotherly and close cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Sultanate of Oman.

Sheikh Al Ma'awali, who is currently visiting Doha, said in this context that here is no doubt that the relations between the two countries' Leaders, His Majesty Sultan Qaboos and His Highness the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani is reflected positively on the peoples of the two brotherly countries and all government institutions.

In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Chairman of Omani Shura Council said that the close cooperation between Qatar and Oman will yield and reflect positively on all legislative and regulatory functioning of the two countries' Shura Councils, adding that he and HE Speaker of the Qatari Shura Council Mohammed bin Mubarak Al-Khulaifi always have a sincere desire to consolidate these relations by all available means in parliamentary affairs, expressing his sincere thanks to HE for inviting him to visit Qatar.

Regarding the role of parliamentarians in promoting democracy and freedom climate in the GCC States or Arab Countries in general, Sheikh Khalid Bin Hilal Al Ma'awali said that without a doubt, the role of members of legislatures is to reflect the desire and the aspirations of peoples by finding laws that serve the community and fill the gaps that may be an entrance for any aspect of administrative or financial corruption.

He stressed that the parliamentarians have a definite role in order to activate these regulatory or legislative legislation. (QNA)
