Qatar was chosen by Total as the host country for the 2013 edition of the Total’s Group Middle East Education workshop, which took place at Hilton Doha recently.
The objective of the workshop was to gather education leaders of Total’s subsidiaries in the Middle East to exchange information about the needs expressed by stakeholders in the area of education, get the appropriate answers and share success stories that can inspire everyone.
Over 25 participants from seven countries engaged in forums and workshops to learn from each other’s experience and tackle issues relating to education in the region. The topics covered included partnerships with leading universities, scholarships for talented students, development opportunities for female graduates, and educational material for schoolchildren.
Qatar was seen as an inspiring example, as Total’s representatives here underlined the huge effort being made in the country to boost higher education.
“It is easy to know what you have to do in Qatar, when as a leader in the oil and gas sector, you want to contribute to education, just follow the guidelines provided by Qatar National Vision 2030,” said Dominique Gueudet, Vice President, Communications and Institutional Relations, Total E&P Qatar. “This strategic plan is about human, social, economic and environmental development. Education boosts them all.”
“It is amazing to see how much progress has been achieved in the region since we had our first Middle East Education Seminar over one year ago,” stated Luc Sposito, Vice President of Education Worldwide at Total.
